Cherries

Cherries

Cherries are the fruits of the cherry tree, a deciduous and beautiful
tree, which belongs to the rhododendron family, it is an angiosperm
dicotyledonous plant, with a height of up to 20 meters. With a deep red
color, special taste and crunchy texture, the cherry is systematically
produced in Imathia, at the foot of Mount Vermio, since the early 1950s.
The fruit is juicy and crunchy with a great possibility of preservation
and transport to the most distant markets. Cherries have great nutritional
value, as they are particularly rich in fiber, vitamins (A, C, B), as well as
minerals (potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium), significantly
strengthening the body’s natural defenses.

Beneficial properties

Cherries contain various antioxidants and phytochemicals that have anti-cancer properties. Anthocyanins found in cherries have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, including colon, breast and prostate cancers.

The antioxidants found in cherries have been linked to improved cognitive function and brain health. Studies show that regular consumption of cherries can help boost memory, reduce age-related cognitive decline, and protect against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
