The quince is the fruit of the species Cydonia oblonga (the only species of the genus Cydonia) and originates from southwest Asia and the Caucasus region. Known as the “golden apple”, it symbolized fertility, love and well-being in ancient Greece. Today it is one of the most important health allies from the fruit family. In Greece it is cultivated in the Rhodopes and Pieria. It is undoubtedly a nutritional treasure, a true ally for health, since its high content of vitamin C significantly stimulates our immune system. It is rich in potassium, magnesium and antioxidants which further enrich its rich nutritional value.
