Oranges are usually available from autumn to spring, with the exception of some varieties, which with the right conditions bear fruit even in summer. In Greece, the orange tree is grown mainly in Laconia, Argolis and the region of Arta. Rich source of vitamins, minerals and trace elements They are known for their content of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant, helping to protect our cells from possible damage and strengthen the immune system. An orange a day keeps the doctor away!

Beneficial properties

The vitamin C contained in the orange is a shield against viruses and colds, as it stimulates the production of white blood cells in the body, thus strengthening the immune system.

As an excellent source of the powerful antioxidant vitamin C, oranges can help fight the formation of free radicals known to cause cancer. However, while an adequate intake of vitamin C is necessary and very beneficial as an antioxidant, the amount required for consumption for cancer therapeutic purposes is more than we can consume. Also, a high intake of fiber from fruits and vegetables is associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer.
